Ready To Introduce Coconut Oil Into Your Skincare Routine?

Posted by on

If we were stranded on a desert island and could only have one thing with us, this would be it.

Coconut oil is a powerhouse. It’s anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, and antibacterial. It can make a great creamer in coffee (or matcha!) It is a delicious addition to many foods, and on top of all that, coconut oil has a plethora of skin benefits.

Personally, I started using coconut oil as my main skin moisturizer about 6 years ago, after trying to remove the most toxin-laden everyday products from my life, and realizing how many toxins and chemicals are in our skincare products was pretty scary!

Looking for a healthier, more natural alternative, I turned to coconut oil. And I have been using it and loving it ever since.

Today, we cover a few reasons why coconut oil is so great for skin and why we like to include it in many of our products.

Hydration - coconut oil is made up of fatty acids which help the skin retain moisture.

Natural SPF - coconut oil provides natural spf around 5. While this isn’t a huge amount, it’s great to know that there is natural protection from the sun.

Antioxidant rich - the antioxidants in coconut oil can help protect the skin from environmental stressors and help minimize line and wrinkles!

Easily absorbable - coconut oil absorbs easily into the skin to provide loads of hydration

Soothes skin irritations - due to it’s antimicrobial and antibacterial properties, coconut oil is extremely soothing and can help reduce redness and irritations

Smells like vacation! Coconut oil has such a delicious scent!

Which coconut oil should you use?

When looking to include coconut oil into your skincare routine, it’s important to always look for organic, unrefined, cold-pressed, extra virgin (or virgin) oil. This is the least processed, most unrefined oil available.

Does coconut oil work on all skin types?

While coconut oil is considered comedogenic, meaning it can clog pores, it can still be beneficial for your skin. As with any new product, always test it out to see how your skin reacts.

For dry skin, coconut oil can be deeply moisturizing.

For sensitive skin, coconut oil is soothing and can calm minor irritations.

For mature skin, coconut oil is great for helping to minimize those fine lines and wrinkles.

For oily skin, coconut oil can clog pores, but as a reminder, if it's just one ingredient in a product, your skin might be okay with the use of coconut oil when mixed with other ingredients.

You can find organic coconut oil in our illuminating body oil, nourishing body oil, and our tan lines tanning + body oil.

Leave a little glow wherever you go with our entire collection of products.

Keep glowing.
